Effects of interphase coupling in one-dimensional particle-laden flow

چکیده

Abstract In Euler–Euler particle-laden flow models, the interphase coupling terms might include, in addition to drag force, effects of fluid pressure interaction with particles and volumetric displacement phase due presence particles. This paper presents an analytical study on these for laminar, one-dimensional, steady, inviscid flow. The force is represented by a linear Stokes formula that valid low particle Reynolds number. It shown mathematically full two-way model, which includes all aforementioned effects, depends three parameters: inlet volume fraction (concentration), density ratio–between phases–and velocity ratio. When concentration ratio are kept at 0.01 0.001, respectively, both insignificant. For ratios 0.001 1 values examined, effect not significant. However, it becomes significant higher 10 0.1.

Particle-laden two-dimensional elastic turbulence

The aggregation properties of heavy inertial particles in the elastic turbulence regime of an Oldroyd-B fluid with periodic Kolmogorov mean flow are investigated by means of extensive numerical simulations in two dimensions. Both the small and large scale features of the resulting inhomogeneous particle distribution are examined, focusing on their connection with the properties of the advecting...

Behavior of a particle-laden flow in a spiral channel

Spiral gravity separators are devices used in mineral processing to separate particles based on their specific gravity or size. The spiral geometry allows for the simultaneous application of gravitational and centripetal forces on the particles, which leads to segregation of particles. However, this segregation mechanism is not fundamentally understood, and the spiral separator literatures does...
